Kelly Harrington is currently a second year Masters students at the KU School of Social Welfare with a concentration in Social Work Administration and Advocacy Practice (SWAAP). Kelly received her Bachelors of Arts in psychology and Spanish from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota in May 2010. After graduating, Kelly taught English in Spain, served as an AmeriCorps tutor and provided outreach for a community clinic in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She also worked as an assistant community mobilizer for a community coalition in the Latino community of Kansas City, Kansas, which provided her experience in community-based health promotion research. During the summer of 2015, she gained experience in policy advocacy as an intern at a pro-immigration advocacy organization in Washington, D.C. Kelly’s major areas of practice interest include health equity, immigrant rights, economic inequality, and policy advocacy.
